The word katachi has no direct translation in English but conveys a classic Japanese design sensibility: reverence for nature, hand craftsmanship, the relationship between materials and form, subtlety over ostentation.
Standing out as a complete product collection for every part of the home, Katachi provides designers with a framework within which to shape every piece. The elements are deceptively simple, but allow a wide range of stylistic expression. From Japanese to Scandinavian Modern, from Arts and Crafts to Traditional, this collection exudes the unique and understated elegance that cultivates truly visionary design.
Katachi represents the first full collection in Dutch Made Custom Cabinetry’s renaissance as a leader in design. Created exclusively for Dutch Made, Katachi was designed by Scott A. Stultz, an illustrious product designer in the exclusive kitchen industry for over thirty years. His Japanese heritage and architectural background has informed and shaped Katachi from beginning to end.
Foundational Styles
With two foundational door styles and a variety of panel options, Katachi is a frameless product that provides designers with over three hundred style combinations, ensuring no two projects are ever the same.
Nine kōshi styles
What is kōshi?
Kōshi screens draw from the history of vertically slatted screens in Japanese architecture, and each style reflects its heritage in a different tone. This allows designers to craft distinct emotions and evoke different styles.
Katachi I 2.25 – Half Round Kōshi
Katachi I 3.0 – Gothic Kōshi
Katachi I 3.0 – Square Kōshi
Kōshi styles are each available in a curated framework of spacing and door style combinations, intentionally providing harmonious depth and texture to a cabinet’s surface. Half round kōshi are available in two sizes. Gothic kōshi are available in one size. Square kōshi are available in three sizes, either with or without a radius edge.
